Discussion - Milestone III, Level Building, Research.

Hey guys,

Seeing as though we've just completed our Milestone II presentation, I thought I'd bring up a discussion post regarding the current Milestone III work. Currently, we're working on getting our test level to final state ready for the 3rd of November (which will be the date of our next dry run presentation.)

Firstly, I remember Lewis mentioning that it'd be a good idea for the entire group to sit around and run through the level at its Alpha state, discussing what needs to be added / changed. Maybe we can come up with a good time for this to happen now and announce it here- preferably before our meeting on Wednesday.

Secondly, I've filled in Brian's report sheet with the tasks currently WIP ready for the Milestone III presentation. All of the bullet points listed below are to be showcased, with the final build run through and supporting documents obviously taking the spotlight.

For the Milestone III presentation material, we have;
- Final Build Demonstration.
- Final Level Documentation.
- Relevant Research.
- Brief Testing Plan.
- Future Goals.

If anyone has items to add / disagrees with anything, let me know and it will be altered.

Last but not least- I'm wondering what would be the most effective research to perform at this current time. We already have research into human emotions (which will aid our decisions in creating our Kate NPC) and also into testing methodologies (which will aid in backing up our means of testing.)

Obviously, getting the level built and Kate scripted are the most important tasks we have on our plate at the moment- however I'd be happy to do a bit more research alongside this if we feel there are any areas we urgently need to cover.

Cheers,
         - Lee

Who are we?

Team Fable is a group of five students working on their 'Level 3 Team Project' at the University of Bolton.

All posts and work uploaded to this blog will be monitored by assessors and all content will count towards the teams final mark.

What is our aim?

Our project aim is to research the usage of non-playable characters in games and investigate what drives player reactions to them.

By researching into this, we hope to evolve storytelling in games by defining the characteristics players find most compelling in NPCs, ultimately leaving with more engaging characters.

What are our roles?

The team roles are as follows:

Kyle Cherry - Research & Documentation.
Lee Sparkes - Human Resources.
Lewis Morgan - Level Design Lead.
Adam Parker - Art Design Lead.
Stephen Austin - Testing Lead.

Despite having specific lead roles, all members in the group will contribute to all areas of the project.
